Every year, a great number of people visit the carnival of Tomelloso, which is full of animation, colours, and different types of costumes. Every inhabitant of this city lives the carnival in a special way. This amazing celebration has been declared of Regional Touristic Interest.
This festival is celebrated 40 days before the Holy Week. The carnival are three days full of magic: on Saturday the parade of ‘carrozas y comparsas’ takes place, and, in many cases, some contests are celebrated. On Sunday morning the most important carnival occurs, which is the Scholar Parade, where children of the city dance through different streets of the city. This is the reason why the carnival of Tomelloso was declared of Regional Touristic Interest.
The last day of the carnival is on Monday, when some local associations prepare their own parade full of emotion and fun. Besides, some contests of masks and Drag Queen are prepared in order to attract tourists and neighbours.
