It is an astonishing space of great beauty, composed of the association of a volcano and a volcanic lagoon, which are located between the municipalities of Alcolea de Calatrava and Corral de Calatrava. They are also located in the volcanic complex of Campo de Calatrava. In fact, the volcano is one of the best of the Strombolian type, while the lagoon was formed when the lava formed when the lavas dammed up the Lobo stream.
Apart from this, the beautiful geomorphological picture is completed with Mediterranean vegetation of holm oaks, kermes oaks, junipers, broom, scrub and rushes in the wetlands, some Iberian lynx and various birds, which use the area for nesting or wintering.
