Volcanic Lagoon of Michos

Add it to your travel notebook

This natural area is characterised by its origin in a maar-type explosion crater with a complete geometry. It is very well preserved and contains an explosion crater with a semi-permanent circular lagoon inside.

It is also of great scenic value as it is located at the foot of a quartzite mountain range, on the border with a large flat area, which makes it a very beautiful site. It is also of great interest for its fauna, as it is located in an area of importance for various species included in the Regional Catalogue of Threatened Species. Of particular note are the Iberian lynx, the golden eagle and several species of aquatic birds, especially the little grebe, which is located in a critical area for the imperial eagle and the black stork.
